Kenji Aoki, born in 1968 in Tokyo, embarked on his creative journey by studying various design disciplines at Kuwasa Design School. However, it was the transformative power of photography, particularly its ability to capture beauty in the mundane, such as a "normal coffee cup at home", that profoundly influenced Aoki. This realization led him to focus on the art of still life photography, where he seeks to uncover beauty in everyday life through a geometric and analytical perspective.
After a successful career in Tokyo, Aoki relocated to New York in 2009, where he has collaborated with numerous clients in the United States and Europe. His work has garnered recognition and awards from prestigious institutions such as The Art Directors Club, American Photography, and The New York Times Magazine.
