A deep dive into the life and philosophy of one of the 20th century’s most innovative sculptors. This meditative autobiography, now restored to its original specifications, captures Isamu Noguchi's profound reflections on art and impermanence. His work spans gardens, furniture, lighting, ceramics, architecture, and set designs, yet it is his sculpture that stands as a testament to his mastery.
This book features over 250 images, including photographs of Noguchi’s experimental pieces, drawings, and architectural plans, all contextualized with his own words. Originally published in 1968 and reprinted by Steidl, this updated edition retains the original foreword by architect R. Buckminster Fuller and adds insights from Bonnie Rychlak, Noguchi’s former studio assistant and curator.
