The Amazing Spider-Man
The Penguin Classics Marvel Collection Edition of The Amazing Spider-Man gathers twelve key stories from the first two years of Spider-Man's publication history (1962 to 1964). These stories, originally published in Amazing Fantasy and The Amazing Spider-Man, are considered influential adventures that transformed the superhero fantasy.
Spider-Man's early tales, written by Stan Lee and illustrated by Steve Ditko, not only turned the superhero into an allegory for the challenges of adolescence but also introduced a new ethical complexity to the genre by emphasizing the responsibility that comes with great power. The anthology showcases the foundational stories that helped shape Spider-Man's enduring significance in the world of comics. The Deluxe Hardcover edition adds special features such as gold foil stamping, gold top stain edges, special endpapers with artwork, and full-color art throughout.
