The Wiener Werkstätte, or "Vienna Workshop", was a groundbreaking creative movement founded in 1903 by Josef Hoffmann, Koloman Moser, and Fritz Waerndorfer. This alliance of artists and designers sought to challenge industrialized society with a focus on individual handcraftsmanship, aiming to unify various facets of life into elegant, cohesive artworks. Artists within the Wiener Werkstätte experimented with a range of materials, applying simple, often geometric, designs to ceramics, textiles, typography, interior design, furniture, and fashion.

Despite its relatively short existence of 30 years, the Wiener Werkstätte achieved commercial success with outlets in various cities and attracted designs from leading artists of the time, including Gustav Klimt, Oskar Kokoschka, and Egon Schiele. The Vienna Workshop's comprehensive approach to artistic practice and its stylistic influence on Art Deco and Bauhaus have contributed to its lasting legacy.
